The mother of the younger girl attempted to rescue them, as did fomc other Indian women, Fcveral of whom showed evidences evi-dences of mat-treatment. The face of the younger girl was much swollen and lacerated. This outrage was committed commit-ted in broad day, almost under the eyes of half a dozen whito men, who could not imagine that such a crime was being committed, but BUpposcd that it was children playing or in some difhcully among themselves. These nnnnln nro nonfifiahln nnd wnll hnlmvnrl and arc constantly at work l'or some of tho farmers, and justice calls for the interference of the law to teach these lawless wretches a lesson. San Quen-tin Quen-tin is the place for such things; for the miscreant who would commit such an outrage upon an Indian girl because ho thinks her unprotected, would do tho same with a white one if ho did not fear the conscqunces.
