Show i r ! Theatre. "Under the Gaslight" was very fairly played on Saturday night, though it was not by any means a brilliant performance. TLe i'-atare of the evening was undoubted:;.- Miss I Deiie's Peacbblossom, a part that has ! never been so well played here before by any one. The little lady without straining after efVoc, made every point and made them w-.-'.i. Miss Colebrook was somewhat nervous, as might Live been expected after so long -an absence from thti boards, but her Laura was a very fine performance. Mr. Nobles' inorkey was quiet and sympathetic, vigor and feeling being reserved fcr the last two scenes of the fourth act. There is Little in B.av Truff .rd. but Mr. McK eaz'.e made the most of it. Mr. Graham 8 Bermudas is always a fine piece of acting, and Johnny Mat-terson Mat-terson as Peanuts mustn't be omitted. Byke, Judas, Pearl, Mrs. Van Bam ft al. were rendered about equal to previous personations here. Mr. Pieid deserves credit for the style in which the scenic effects were presented; we cauld only wish that the operations of the stage carpenters and machinists behind the scenes could be conducted with a little less noise. 'To-morrow evening"The Lost Ship," so long in preparation, will be presented pre-sented with a good cast. It ought to prove a strong attraction. |
