Show Society for the Improvement of Stock. The meeting of this Society on Monday night was well attended. After the opening exercises, a communication commu-nication was read from Mr. J. H. Morgan, Mor-gan, New York State, to President Pres-ident Young, on the subject of the introduction of the Ayrshire bulls into this Territory; and one from Woodmansee Bro. offeiingto put ninety nine-ty head of stock, with their ranches in Scull Valley and on East Canon Creek, into the co-operative herd, at ?s,000. Mr. Woodruff, President of the Society, So-ciety, reported proceedings of a special meeting of the co-operative herd com mittee, lie thought the offer of Wood-maDsce Wood-maDsce Bro. was a good one. Mr. Kockwood reported proceedings relative to his search for a p'ace to locate lo-cate a fish-farm. He had found a very-eligible very-eligible location on the farm of Mr. LTandley, north of the paper mill, in Sugar House Ward. Mr. Woodruff had accompanied Mr. Rockwood to see the Btrjam referred to, and concurred in the opinion as to its eligibility, following with some pertinent per-tinent remarks on fish-breeding. Mr. Musser read some extracts from a work on fish culture aud spoke ou the profits arising from it Six hundred and twenty five dollars were subscribed, in twenty-five do'Jar shares, for the purpose of opening a fish farm, and Mr. Rockwood was appointed ap-pointed to superintend the starting of the enterprise and make the necessary negotiations for securing possession of the spring and the location. Mr. W. D. Roberts, lately returned from the east with two hundred and forty swarms of bees, some choice boars, fowls, reported his deings wnue absent. Messrs. T. H. Woodbury and John B. Maiben ware added to the committee commit-tee on silk. -. , |
