Show Mystkuious Death. For the last three days Mr. George Cronyn, of the firm of Cronyn and Ferris, of this city, h.is been missing, ami fears were entertained enter-tained concerning him. Yestorday about half past one p. in. Miss Sarah Turpin, living at the house of Mr. F. Ferris, in the Tth Ward, had occasion to go into the warehouse attached to the building, when she discovered the body of a man lying on an old sofa, which upon examination was found to be that of the missing man. The body was lying in a very cramped position and was greatly swol'ei, the tongue protruding, with other evidences that the last moments of deceased were ones of intense in-tense sufferiug. Coroner Beatie was immediately notified, and Messrs. E. L. T. IlarrLion, D. Stewart and C. n. Force wore summoned to serve as a jury on the inquest. Miss Turpin and Miss Perris, the , first to discover the body, Mrs. Wilson, daughter ef deceased, and Thomas Evans, a clerk in the store of Cronyn and Perris, were examined and from their testimony it appeared that the deceased left his residence in the 7th Ward, on Thursday morning at about half past six, and went to ths store; from there he was traced to the Merchants Mer-chants Exchange and Eddins Saloon, but from he left the latter place noth ing wps seen of him until, the painful discovery was made yesterday. The jury after an examination thought it best to have a post mortem examination ot the body, and JJrs. Anderson and Benedict were called for that purpose. The jury adjourned until Tuesday morning, at 10 o'clock at which time the surgical gentlemen named will make their report. |
