Show Shot. Mrs. William Welch and her little son were shot on Monday afternoon after-noon by some unknown person. The parties live on the Kiug's Canon road, just west of this city. For two or three years Mr. Welch has been engaged in raising ducks and other fowls, but mischievous mis-chievous boys (large and small) from this city who go out that way gunning and prefer tame ducks to wild ones, rendered the business unprofitable and it was finally abandoned. They became be-came so bold that ducks were shot and killed at the very door of their owner. The family had become so accustomed to the sound of shot guns around the house that no attention was paid to them, and consequently these juvenile gunners could get away with a duck shot inside Mr. Welch's yard. The web-footed fowls havirjg been exterminated, exter-minated, on Monday afternoon last some one thought to snoot a chicken, but being a had marksman, shot Mrs. Welch and her little son. One shot struck the mother and lodged among her skirts, while two others struck the little boy in the fice. Neither of them were injured much but Mr. Welch immediately procured a sbot gun warranted to carry ISO yards, and the mother and son are now practicing with it, fully determined to "turn loose" on the first man or boy found on the premises with a shot gun in his hands. We wouldn't blame them if they should blow an arm off some of the thieving gunners who have been killing their fowls. Carson Register. |
