Show Six. Beeves tor Breakfast. One night last week seven head of cattle, cat-tle, from Carbon, on the U. P. R. R., seeking shelter from a storm, took refuge ref-uge in the railroad snow sheds near Medicine Bow. The next westward hound train the one due at Ogden on Saturday ' night last ran into them, and there were six carcasses of beef in need of skinning and dressing in a few seconds. But that wasn't- all. The engine-tender, express car and baggage car were thrown from the track, which brought the train to a stand-still. A messenger was promptly dispatched to the nearest telegraph station, and a message was forwarded for a wrecking-train, wrecking-train, which as speedily as possible was on the ground, and all - expedition expedi-tion was used to get the train again in motion fpr the west. Through the csurtesy of the agent at Ogden for Pullman's palace cars, the passengers for Salt Lake were accommodated with berths for the night. This was the reason why the train failed to connect at Ogden on Saturday night. |
