Show A Rich Strike. We were shown yesterday a sample of ore from the Etna mine, in Dry Canon, Ophir district, dis-trict, and an assay made by T. Molitcr ei Co. of this city. At a distance of i titty-five feet from the surface, this mine has a vein of thirty-two inches of solid ore, which assays $226.20 in silver and 37 per cent lead. The mine contains fourteen hundred feet; nine hundred of which have recently been purchased by Captain Thos. II. Bates, at from five to ten dollars per foot, giv- i ing him a controling interest in it. He has just let a contract to John G. Lindsay, to sink a shaft 100 feet, for $10 per foot; Lindsay to sack the ore and deliver it on the dump. This mine was found and located by W. L. Dykes, of this city, last fall, and has the reputation of being one of the best mines in Ophir district. |
