Show New Smelting Works." We had a pleasant call yesterday from Colonel David E. Buel, formerly of Nevada, but now of this city, to whieh place he has removed his family for the purpose of permanently'residing here. Colonel Buel is having very extensive smelting works put up for J. C. Bateman k Co. in which he is personally largely interested in-terested at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Cot-tonwood canon, fifteen miles from this city. These works will be ready to run in about five weeks, and will give employment to a large number of hands' tut the Colonel informs in-forms u-i they will bo ready to receive ore and charcoal in two weeks from now, preparatory to commencing extensive ex-tensive operations. We are pleased at being able to announce the fact, wish ing to see the shipment of rough ore stopped as much ad possible, and the work of smelting done here, for the bullion alone to "be shipped, until the necessity for reduction works justifies their erection- - |
