Show N'OHLE SlNTIMENTS. Bishop Tut- tie, of the Episcopalian Church; in his sermon on Thanksgiving day, enunciated enun-ciated the following manly and healthy sentiments : "Oh 1 what a shame, in this enlightened en-lightened day and age, that there should be men, of professed ability, who openly proclaim for Repudiation. And there are others who, conniving at frauds in registry, secure for thom-selves thom-selves places of honor and trust. Nor are the Courts exempt from contaminating contami-nating influences, for J udges as well as politicians hare been openly charged with lending their official sanction to the spread of unhealthy sentiments." "To the victors belong the spoils" the Bishop thought was a sad exhibition of tho prevailing cpedemic of the times. "The lesson of the hour teaches that men unblushingly ask for office, simply because they are the partisans of the appointing power, though their efficiency and qualifications are not at all assured." These are patriotic enunciations, and worthy of record. Judge Hawley was present and, no doubt, was touching)-edified. |
