Show SELECTED. HOW A CA-E OF HVPOCHOSDRIA WAS DISPOSED OF. Professional men j.iay oli tricks prettj- much in the same war that history his-tory repeals itieli' We hear of a cae m poiot the incident having occurred a leir days since in which "a. lady in Madison aveD'je, and a doctor whose ofEce ii in Fifth avenue, and who l well known for his brusque eccentricities, eccentrici-ties, were the principal performers. The lady had been afflicted with indolence, in-dolence, and what is vulgarly known as ''dupipuhneis,'' for some time, and fancied that she was seriou.-!y ill. Her husband, a sensible, kind-hearted man, gave way to her humor until his patience became exhausted. He sought to have her take exercise and to forget the troubles which appeared to afflict her. She could not be persuaded per-suaded to take regular moraine walks, and finally became so ill, in her own estimation, that the family physician was called in. He at once saw what the trouble was, and pre cribed some harmless compound which she said afforded her no relief. Thereupon the lady took a great djslike to him, and insisted upon her husband finding another physician. The husband met Fir. , well known, as we have observed, ob-served, for his peculiarities, and described de-scribed to him the condition of his wife and domestic troubles. ';Pooh 1 pooh !"' ejaculated the doctor, ''she has the 'mull grubs.' Be at home tomorrow to-morrow afternoon, and I'll cure her." The next afternoon was bright and beautiful, balmv almost, as summer: doctor called at the appointed time; the wife was confined to her bed. The doctor closed the chamber door, and proceeded to take off his hat, coat and boots' this done he deliberately threw himself upon the bed beside his patient. pa-tient. Quick as lightning the lady, who was supposed to be so weak from sickness, jumped up, ran screaming out of the room, rushed dowu stairs, and would have made her way into the street, had not her hu.-band arrested arrest-ed her at the front door. The poor, afflicted woman has so far recovered as to he able to run up a good-sized restaurant res-taurant bill. The prcscriptinu seems to have been more effectual than a dose of calomel. -V. Y.
