Show I A FAKE SENSATION I Ed Egan Wanted For Hors egtea1InS Not Mr Martin The Tribune man who haunts I churchyards and digs up the moulder Ing corpses of murdered men to use as a basis from which to spring fake I sensations on an unprotected public has changed his tactics and yesterday let loose threequarters of a column of tabooed matter written against space with the sole object of throwing throw-ing discredit on Sheriff Hardy and his deputies because in a case of mistaken mis-taken identity a constable detained a man named A F Martin for a few hours A warrant was issued a few days ago for the arrest of a notorious thief named Ed Egan on the charge of stealing a horse from J W McCoy of this city The deputy sheriffs have been scouring the country for several days and descriptions of the man were freely circulated A 1 F Martina Martin-a coal oil peddler left Salt Lake with his team for Park City and as it happened hap-pened the description given of Egan and his outfit tallied almost exactly with that of Martin Constable Niel son detained Martin at Roches halfway half-way house and telephoned the sheriff Deputy Sheriff Irwin immediately went to Roches and on his arrival saw that Martin was not the man who was wanted and he was at once restored to his liberty Mr Martin like a sensible man realized the situation and has no ill feeling whatever towards the sheriff I and has no Idea of bringing any suit i for damages In fact never thought of I it until it was suggested to him by j the enterprising reporter |
