Show POLITICAL The Republicans of this county have buried the hatchetthat is the Seminoles Semi-noles have buried It In the heads of the palefaced mystics and all is peace and harmony When the Tribune sprung the Ferguson affidavit on the Standard it was not thought that the campaign would be so shortlived A war of many moons duration was expected ex-pected but the great war cry which the Standard raised and the affidavits which it published completely floored the Tribune because there was a general gen-eral demand on the part of Republicans cans for peace and i was heeded Glasmann had no terms to propose He was ready for war and in fact preferred It to peace so the Tribune had to call off the light and surrender Peace reigns supreme but it will only continue so long as the people do business busi-ness with Glasmann and they can only I deal with him on his own terms I The legislative ticket will be the I next bone of contention so far as the Republicans are concerned and4f Glas mann can have his own way in that there will be no trouble He will not surrender even for the sake of peace any of his rights as a dictator and so long as the Republicans in this county respect him as such he will be peaceable when they refuse he will enforce his authority peace or no peace Crane and Trumbo are known to have their eye on this county and the legislative contest which is brewing I They will both be in it and keep things lively because it is safe to say that so far as Republicans are concerned it will be easier to control the legislative legisla-tive nominations in their interest than any other Hon F J Cannon is an important factor in this county but so far he has not been able to exert tiny great in luence in shaping the party business He has not trained with the right people peo-ple and therefore has lost caste This is bad for the young congressman because be-cause he can never hope to be advanced ad-vanced in accordance with the cravings crav-ings of his ambition without the united support of the party in this county I is well known that Glasmann will not be a party to any truce or treaty of peace which will either directly or indirectly benefit Qlr Cannon Crane is another man who has no love for Cannon The exchairman feels that he has not been accorded the kind of treatment by the congressman which he was entitled to especially as it was mainly through his efforts that Mr Cannon has attained his present position > posi-tion tionThe The old combine organization although I al-though worsted in the Republican state convention is by no means lifeless They have the Standard and will retain re-tain it because it is necessary for the plans which they have matured and they will certainly be heard from in the campaign which is now on Weber county can by no possible means go Republican unless i goes in the interest of the old combine of Crane Trumbo and Glasmann and that would be very cold comfort to the Tribune and its following |
