Show OPERATIONS AT AUSTIN TwentyStamp Mill to Resume Ore Treatment M FARNSWORTH BACK HE ORDERED SOME IMPORTANT CHANGES IX DEVELOPMENT Union Tunnel Has Cnt D Number of New Ore Bodies and Is Rapidly Going Ahead Clearing the Sites of the Germaulus New Furnaces BullionBecks Mill Nearly Completed Com-pleted Detroit Mining Xeivs Cen tennlnlEnrekn Dividend General Mining SewS General Manager Farnsworth of the Austin Mining company returned yesterday yes-terday morning from Austin where he went for the purpose of inspecting the properties of the company and ordering order-ing some changes in the development and operation of the mines which are still open One of those changes will be the resumption of operations at the twenty stamp mill of the company hich is to commence the treatment of what is termed the second class ore taken from the UnIon and two other of the mines of the company about the middle of the coming week The plant has been idle for some time past but Manager Farnsworth has come to the conclusion that I will prove a good investment in-vestment to concentrate the milling ore on the dump which by the way averages 100 ounces of silver to the ton and make shipments of the concentrates concen-trates to the valley smelters Although it has only been pushed into the mountain for some 200 2ret more than one half of its proposed length or 3200 feet the Union tunnel being driven by the company for the purpose of developing all of the claims in the Union group has already cut in the neighborhood of seventeen new ledges of exceptional richness These ore bodies are left behind however how-ever and the tunnel is sent ahead for the goal which should be encountered within the next few hundred feet Immediately Im-mediately following the completion of this work the company will commence the construction of a large modern mill at the mouth of the tunnel and reduce its ores to fine bars All 4f the ore will then be taken out through the tunnel and the latter will also supply plenty of water for the operation of the mill I is already giving out a nice stream of pure water something some-thing of great value in Nevada I The mines of the Union group are looking exceptionally well reports Mr i Farnsworth and some very high grade ore is being taken out there being now on hand In the neighborhood of 1000 tons Only occasional shipments are bing made just sufficient to defray de-fray the cost of the development work going on in the properties and tunnel A carload of the ore is sent out at a time probably one a month and the average value has been 5000 |
