Show HAVE DONE NOTHING Indian Commissioners Arc Still Resting Rest-ing nt Fort Dncliesnc Still the commissioners named by the president of the United States to visit the Uncompahgra Indian reservation and allot certain portions of the lands to the Indians in severally pr para tory to the throwing open of the reservation reser-vation to settlement and to also treat with the Uinfahs relative to the opening open-ing of the Uintah reservation are enjoying en-joying life at Fort Duchesne and have made no move looking toward the carrying car-rying out of their instruction There is a good reason for this All cf the members of the commission are eld men and they must await the passing of the snows before venturing out None of them can ride a horse with ease if at all and it will therefore be necessary to delay the commencement of active work until the warm weather returns This was the news brought in by Bert Seabolt yesterday morning The gentleman is post trader and in a position po-sition to know of what is g > iner on at the fort aid agencies There Is more snow in the Uintah country at present than at this time of the year for i decade de-cade or more and in consequence it will be several weeks mors Pt least before be-fore the members of the commission will feel like getting out into the field The indiatons are that but 1 ttl will be accomplished this year in he ray of making contracts and it therefor looks very mu h as though there would b > i no orenlrg ctMhe reseva tins this seTson Just what wlfl lethe le-the mode of procedure adopted by the commissioners is at present known only to themselves or those on the inside in-side Some extensive work is being carried on at the gil ° onite deposits and the company Is unable to fill all the criers which are belig daily received from the east The roads are in a te rlble condition and the slow progress made by the teams Is necessary |
