Show REFUSES ANY CREDIT J tlBe DiclJaon Characteristic Modesty Again to the Fore With that modesty which is one of his many pleasing characteristics Judge W H Dickson refuses to take unto himself any credit for the splen did manner In which the defense was presented the trial ot the great Del aionteWew York and Chance case at Denver He says he did not take as active a part in the hearing as was indicated by The Herald but if such is the case the Denver papers from which The Herald obtained tt s facts must have also overestimated the judges services The arguments for the defense were opened by Judge Valle of Denver one of Colorados most prominent attorneys and Judge Dickson closed taking the ground setout set-out by this paper The judge declines any credit however in the following brief note noteSalt Salt Lake City Feb 24 1895 To the Editor of The Herald Your reporter was Quite mistaken in assuming that I took a prominent part in the discussion of the important mining case recently heard before Judge Hallett at Denver Colorado involving in-volving the law of the apex The case was very ably presented by Mr Thomas on behalf of the plaintiff and by Mr Vane fa the defense I was not sufficiently familiar with the case to enable me to take and I did rot take any active part In it The very flattering notice therefore which fattering tc your paper contained of my supposed Argument Argu-ment is not only altogether undeserved unde-served but in light of facts is sered lght calculated calcu-lated to make me ridiculous Yours V7 H DICKSON |
