Show FROM FISH SPRINGS Interesting Budget of News Prom This Camp George Crismon 13 M Weiler Charles Crismon B J Cook and F M L man jr the mining engineer constituted con-stituted a party that went over to Fish Springs a few days ago to inspect operations op-erations at the Utah property 4 With the exception of B J Cook who has aecepte the position of superintendent superin-tendent at the mine and Charles Cris won who stayed over to watch developments devel-opments for a short time the a tme party arrived ar-rived home Monday night George Crismon president of the company talked entertainingly of his visit to the district At the Utah said he we are sinking a new shaft through whcli we shall be better able to work the mine The old shaft was nothing more than a prospecting affair and i became necessary with the deb de-b velopment of the mine to have better acjmies for nanaiing the proauct While the new shaft has been going down a drift has been run from the COO level of the old workings to connect with the new when that level was leached The two shafts are about 300 feet apart and at a point in the drift some 270 feet from the old shaft a nice body of 100ounce silver ore carrying 40 per cent lead was opened up and the new shaft will undoubtedly run into the same body when that depth js attained The new shaft is a first class doublecompartment one and is now down 270 feet Nice bodies of ore are uncovered and being worked through the old shaft and a carload shipment reached Salt Lake today Another An-other shipmsnt is being made up and will be sent out to the railroad just a fast as we can secure teams to haul it While the ores from the Utah have to be hauled seventyfive miles to Oasis on the Short Line and from there shipped by rail to Salt Lake they are of such highgrade that a handsome I hand-some profit is still obtained Mr Crismon says a force of about twentyfive men are now on the payroll I pay-roll at the Utah and as I is the intention inten-tion to send the shaft new shat down to a depth of 1000 feet a larger force will be employed when drifting from the new shaft commences Regarding other properties at Fish Springs Mr Crismon says the Last Chance which adjoins the Utah recently cently struck a good body of ore and a shipment is now being made The Vulcan another promising mine there also had a shipment ready to send out and were only awaiting teams to do the hauling Coming home the party passed Sam Gilson on the road headed this way for timber and supplies J The Fish Springs district is not a large one according to Mr Crismon but much may be expected from it on I account of the large bodies of high grade ore it is developing |
