| Show C charles byard P passes away last wednesday morning at 3 am one of our eighty six year old veterans charles byird passed into the great beyond from which no one ever returns lie he was born at salem mass I 1 nov 11 1806 and was ivas the youn youngest 0 est of four children two boys and two it girls at the acre ago 1 of six he lost his father and brother who went to sea and never returned his boyhood days were spent at salem where he be also learned his trade as cooper later he worked in boston but still lived at salem we understand that he was a townsman with benjamin ashbey in fifty one or thereabouts lie ile came to utah having previously join joined edthe the mormon church after having resided in salt lake city citi a number of years he went back to his home as a missionary returning return returning in 9 back to the 11 valleys of the mountains about 1877 lie ile had scarcely reached his seventy seventh year of age when lie he began to think of matrimony and in the fall of 1883 was married to harriet wood a widow woman whose acquaintance he had made in salt SaIt lake city in sept of that year the family moved to bountiful ua were they resided up to the time of eighty 0 six sis years and six months was his big age age 0 at tile the time of his death funeral services were held at the cast bountiful the 11 of may at 2 p in m and the remains interred in the bountiful ceal cemetery tery ien immediately B nedi abely after the services v as is customary st omary the 0 following named brethren spoke 0 on n the ilc 1 occasion counselor henry IP bampton Eam Zam samuel samue I 1 bryson samuel naylor lanthi lan thins barlow and samuel smedley As far as we know bro byard was a good abood indus industrious arious townsman and a faithful member of the church |
