Show D 0 T I 1 MEET AGAIN at farmington prof augsburg continues his lessons on en drawing the D C T I 1 met according to appointment meeting called to order by supt bupt willey after the minutes were ivere read and approved and roll was called supt bupt willey stated slated that lie had bad some business to put before the teachers before the close of 0 the meeting 0 but as prof aus arg was pres present ent and was desirous of getting gelling A V through with liis his drawing in time lime to to return to salt lake city on the early train supt bupt willey said hl he would lay his business aside until a later hour after examining the lesson and removing all obstacles that had arisen in the same the professor expressed himself as being much pleased with tile the work done ile he also stated that lie he was very sorry that more of the teachers were not present as he intended to present a new subject today ile he then explained very carefully and illustrated lust rated by the use of the blackboard the principles embraced in drawing tho cylinder and how to cut to lo pieces the same the professor said there is one new line in the cylinder the curved line and there will vill be but one difficulty didi cully to overcome and that is the tendency to exaggerate th that atline line I 1 here is no danger of not getting it curved enough 0 but great danger of getti getting ngit it curved too much the cylinder has no corners there are three kinds of cylinders viz the horizontal the vertical and the receding the first to be considered is the horizontal it is very simple but the professor stated the simplest things in ill the world are the stumble blocks for instance christendom its principles are arc very simple yet they are stumbling blocks for thousands A few applications were then given introducing animal life such as the cat rabbit etc this subject being thus far considered si and triin train time being near at hand band the professor took liis his departure supt bupt willey said that he felt a great interest in the teachers regarding the drawing thought that great interest should be taken in ill it ile he desired the teachers to bring these principles into their schools so that the c children might derive tile the benefit of our knowledge in that direction and so the community might know what we are doing the superintendent perin urged the teachers to make their standard high that outside teachers might not come in ill and get gel our utah schools A long ca discussion then followed concerning the qualification of graduates from our county schools by motion the superintendent was given the power to call a committee to formulate a set of examination questions to be given to t alie lie county graduates mr S L sheffield made a motion that we dispense with the program until our next meeting carried on motion meeting adjourned for one ilio month nth march ath 1893 |
