Show LEWIS I Pioneer and leading I Citizen of Pleasant Grove Special Correspondence C Pleasant Grove April 1 IThe The funeral services over ocr the remains of ems Lewia Harvey an old pioneer and azid veteran were held in the meeting house this afternoon They The were well welt attended there being people present p nt from front Salt Lake Provo and American Fork The remains were placed In a white casket Which was covered with flowers The speakers were William lliam M Frampton Frederick Fr Thorne Joseph E B Thorns Thorna and Judge Booth of Provo Prove They Th all spoke of his integrity and paid him the th high compliment of being an honest man He was waa always a close compan ion of Joseph Jo ph Young The deceased was born in Virginia Feb 1 1822 He embraced the Mormon religion in his early earb youth and endured the trials and early persecutions during I the early history of the church On April 6 1849 he w wa married to Lu Clark at Council Bluffs la lap He emigrated to Utah by oy y way of ox team in the he year 1850 and settled at Pleas Pleasant Pleasant Pleasant ant Grove His family was as one of the first families here After enduring nome Gome of the moat severe trials he was sent to Iron county on a mission He returned here in 1885 and has lies resided here since that time He Ee has held a number of very important positions here He was a Sunday school teacher for years was a member of the city council and md was one of the seven pres prea presidents presIdents of ot the quorum of I seventies In fact he has ever ver been one of the leading men mea of Pleasant Grove 1 |
