Show A Talk With the Governor Governor West went up to Ogden on the early tram yesterday morning for the purpose of conferring with the county court of Weber with regard to taking steps to stop the Southern Pacific from bringing industrials into Ogden His excellency sent to the countv court the letter from Mayor Baskin which appeared yesterdays Herald accompanied by the following communication communicaton communicatonOgden Utah May 24 Hon A C Bishop Probate Judge of Weber county Ogden Utah Dear sirI transmit you herewith for your information a copy of a letter received by me this morning from Hon R N Baskin Mayor of Salt Lake city relative to the bringing into this territory terri-tory by the Southern Pacific company of hundreds of destitute and dependent people This subject is causing the I neoole of Salt Lake city and other portions por-tions of the territory a great deal of concern and I aesire to meet the I county court of Weber county to confer con-fer with them in regard to the matter I I est that will arrange i i and so request you wi arrang for a meeting of the court at the earl Jest J-est moment practicable I am sir very respectfully CALEB W WEST Governor Jud e Bishop was himself engaged and as one of the selectmen could not be reached at his suggestion the meeting meet-ing went over until today The governor returned home last night and was seen at his office by a Herald reporter S S The county court of Weber will be called together at 1 oclock tomorrow said the governor and I shall go back I to Ogden in the morning I is my imoression that this court will take the 1 proper action in the premises and acton take steps to pi event the further invasion in-vasion of the territory by obtaining an injunction against the Southern Pacific company The proceedings will pro bablv be the same as taken in the Kelly case and Mr Weber the county attorney will have the papers I in readiness so that there will be no unnecessary delay |
