Show 4 STAKES CONFERENCE I t SemiAnimal Gathering of bait Lake Stake p Saints The semiannual gathering of Salt Lake I Stake Saints convened at the semblyhall IJ on Saturday morning at 10 a In and held two meetings OB that day and three on Sunday = Sun-day The congregations were not very f1 large on Saturday but on Sunday at all o three meetings the house was more than comfortably filled Many personages high if in office in the church were seen on the stand and bistope high priests and the lower orders of the priesthood were out in lull force Each ward of the city and each i district of the country sent its quota and the gathering was representative On very few occasions of ttis kind has there been such a large attendrnce on the part of the members of the choir as was noticed on Sunday afternoon when the r Hallelujah Chorus was sung as only the tabernacle choir can sing it There were a r number of beautiful anthems and hymnes Tendered by the choir Sunday Morning S f STATISTICAL REPORT The statistical report of Salt Lake stake f for the six months ending July 189J was 1 I j read and the totals are as follows First presidency In stake 3 Apostles 5 Putricrchsun 13 Seventies h 1311 r HtRli Priests 44j Elders nU 2103 Priests 4S7 Teachers 390 f Deacons i 1 1533 Members 16434 omcers and members 22753 I Children under S years 7771 Total uumborofsouls3o5i3 r j Total number families 5917 COTOSELOB CHARLES TV FENBOSE made the motion that the authorities of the r church sustained at the last general conference con-ference be sustained by the stake conference o confer-ence Carried President Angus M Cannon spoke of I the advisability oT having a stake board of < education and the following names were presented and sustained ts such Angus M Cannon Joseph E Taylor Charles W Penrose David McKenzie J M Sjodahl I W W Biter and R K Thomas t Remarks of an eaifylng nature were made by President George Q Cannon Elder B H Roberts Apostle Abraham H Cannon and others J The conference then adjourned for six R months after the choir and entire congregation congre-gation had sung the hymn Now let us rejoice in the day of salvation Il |
