Show FOR SWEET CHARITY About One Hundred and Fifty Couples Dance S AND AS MANY MORE LOOK ON The Ball Given by the Ladles Aid Society Proves a Complete Sncceas Other Entertainments The charity ball given by the Young I Ladies Aid society last night was an immense im-mense success Every detail of the entertainment enter-tainment was complete A more enjoyable evening has not been spent this season and the admirable manner m which the affair was conducted created the most favorable comments To say the ladies acquitted ac-quitted themselves with credit is but faint praise for an enterprise of this magnitude The supper was under the direct supervision super-vision of the young ladies themselves and no more appetizing viands could have been suggested than comprised the menu The music was good and the pretty girls and their partners tripped the light fantastic until tie early morning hours Among the most distingue costumes was a Parisian gown of ivory white silk in Grecian style worn by Miss Mackintosh Miss Emma McCornicfc was moat pro possessing in clot blue embroidered tulle relieved by garniture of lace ruffles run with threads of gold round neck sleeveless sleeve-less and demitrain S Miss Marion Rookledge was very beautiful beauti-ful in a gown of pale yellow moussolaine do soie pointed neck sleeveless wearing with it a golden girdle Miss Acatba Conklin was attired in an atJ elegant dress of cream white striped satin trimmed in ruchings of lace with brocaded sash and tan gloves Miss Lucille Gilmer was very stylishly gowned in white cloth with heavily embroidered em-broidered panels of silk bonnet of garnet velvet ouo of tho most strikingly becoming becom-ing dresses seen Miss Kate Lawrence was very graceful in a gray crepe de chone tho style of which was very much in harmony with her peculiar pecu-liar style of beauty Miss Hampton was very attractive in a rod Chinese crepe with dainty real lace ruffles at the neck and sleeves demitrain Miss Florence Kimball wore a very elaborate elab-orate gown of cream white silk with pale blue chiffon yoke and corresponding sleevo decorations Miss Edith Shearman appeared in a black lace dress and walking hat about two hundred hun-dred and fifty at 3eaca The supper was contributed by lady friends of the society so that tho only expense consists in the hall music and waiters the latter being taken from tho Knutsford All members of the Young Ladies Aid society constituted the committee of arrangements ar-rangements and they with their gentlemen aids were designated by pink bows Everything passed off to the entire satisfaction satis-faction of all present and the second charity bal of the season proved a success for the cause and a pleasure to the partici nants Canadian Society Tho Canadian Social and Literary sooty so-oty held a meeting at GO Wasatch block last evening Several addresses were made and tho essays were of a very Interesting resting nature An election of officers was held resulting result-ing as follows C W Brown first vice president M D McKinnon second vice president GA Livingston treasurer 1 J Reid financial secretary A A Johnson corresponding secretary H E Parks marshal trustees I George Leslie and V B Jones This club has been in existence only a short time but the Canucks are noted as lovers of a good time and the winter will he enlivened by many of their besides other enter taming features Refreshments will be served and everybody will be welcome S Methodist Social The ladies of tho Methodist church give 1 social tonight for the benefit of tho Young Mens Christian association A good musical and literary programme will be > rendered and refreshments served Miss Lincoln will sing and other excellent talent will appear the programme |
