Show TINTICS RICH MINES Eureka Silver City and Mammoth Mam-moth All Going Ahearl Jlany New irospscts Opened and the Old Mines Producing Heavier thaI Ever before A Great Future HE Tintic country never held out r such inducements for capital as it i does at the present time The last I year has marked many changes in our fair territory but in no city or town arc they more marked than in the camps that go to make up what is known as Tintic Mining District Dis-trict Of these of course Eureka stands first and foremost It Was there that mineral was first found In the district and there are located most of the principal mines and the chief business busi-ness houses of the district which have increased in-creased very rapidly of late Owing to a combination com-bination of circumstances beyond the control of Tintie and her citizens the district has not progressed quite as fast as others in the territory Expensive litigation in past years has done much to thwart the enterprise of her citizens and those interested in her welfare The lack of direct railway communication until about a year ago also had a most unwholesome effect the absence of a newspaper whereby the resources re-sources attractions of Eureka could bi ad i vertised to the world was another disadvantage disadvan-tage Litigation has however ceased to a I great extent if not almost entirely railroad facilities have ben provided ana Eureka has a paper devoted to he interests and welfare Before Be-fore this issue of THE CHRISTMAS HERALD is in the hands of our readers Eureka and Tintic generally will have another railway tho Rio Grande Western which branches off at Springville and runs via Goshen and Homansville to Mammoth Hollow entering Eureka from the east while the Union Pacific comes in from the west Both roads pass close to all the big mines in the district The residents ot Tintic have an idea that the advent of the Rio Grande Western means a big boom j I for the camp and it is but fair to suppose their j judgment j is correct If Eureka could prosper i I as she did under the disadvantage of beln situated situ-ated four miles away from one railway cer 1t I tainly she should come boldly to the front when i two roads are competing for tie traffic she has I to offer Indeed it may truthfully be said that the district is already feeling the inspiriting effects ef-fects of the coming In of the Little Gant and it is certain that Tmtlc will make a greater advance during the next twelve mouths than it i has in the past two years Besides a number private residences for the most part off of-f course cottagesthe principal public buildings that have been erected in the past year are the I i Latterday Saints church a rather pretentious I j I I i courthouse an Odd Fellows hall and a very I I handsome public schoolhouse The camp is I now abundantly supplied with good pure water which comes from springs located near Homans ville three miles distant and also from a small ravine only a short distant from tho center of the camp called Coal canon Until a short time 1 ago the latter was the solo sourse of supply for the camp The enterprising Bullion Beck and Centennial Eureka people saw that the camp could not be expected to prosper without an adequate supply of pure water and looking to that end they purchased the sprints above mentioned and put in the necessary plant and pipes to convey con-vey it to Eureka It is pumped 400 feet to tho top of the divide where a couple of 2000 gallon tanks receive it from the ridge to the town there is a fall of 225 feet and this gives a force sufficient to more than cover any building yet erected or which is liable to be built for sometime some-time to come The school facilities are all that could < < reasonably reason-ably be expectedthe public school and Catholic seminary both being well patronized As to the future of Tintic from a mining point of view let Hon Hank Smith an old Com stocker and now mine superintendent of the BullionBeck speak There never was a mining camp on the Pacific coast he says that had a more promising outlook than has Tintic today Three years ago I expressed the opinion and I have never had any reason to recall my words but I have seen my prophecy or what you will fulfilled from day to day New discoveries and rich strikes in tho old properties are so common as to almost cease to excite comment Gradually Eureka is becoming more widely and favorably I mown and this is all we could in fairness ask We want no boom we need none all that is necessary is to let the public become acquainted with the facts and we will have all the influx of wealth and population that we could possibly desire With the best and kindest feeling towards to-wards other sections of the country blessed with mines we must insist that Tintic is destined des-tined to be the banner camp of the west Speaking on the same subject Judge J S Watts of Eureka says The idea should not be allowed to go out that all the good mining ground in Eureka and Tintic generally has been taken up This is not the case by any means There are many rich mines yet to be discovered in this country and several of these will be found in the section now being opened up by the Rio Grande Western and the extension exten-sion of the Union Pacific I look upon Tintic today as being the best mining camp in the great west The question of incorporating Eureka is agitating agi-tating some of the citizens who claim that under I un-der a municipal government prosperity would be far greater than It is now that needed public pub-lic improvements could be madoto induce the immigration of the better class of people so desirable in any community that better sanitary sani-tary regulations could be had and other relief provided The idea however has its opponents oppon-ents and it may be some years before the camp is incorporated Among the curiosities of Eureka is the old Beck shaft on which work was commenced in 1870 by Mr John Beck Ore was found at a depth of sixty feet and it was this strike that directed the attention of the mining fraternity to the rich section now known as Eureka and encouraged prospecting that resulted In the discovery of other rich properties from which so much wealth has since been drawn The old shaft is located a short distance north of the present works it is boarded in to the helghth of about six feet and stands as a monument to the pluck and energy of the pioneer of the great Tintic country which hus done so much and is still in its swaddling clothes Silver City has also pushed steadily along during the year several improvements being noticed which reflect credit upon the citizens Mr L E liter who has been prominently connected with the mining interests of the town for many years past says the year has been a remarkably prosperous one and ho has every reason to Uelieva that 1892 will far transcend even 1891 Much prospecting has been done and several mines opened which bid fair to soon rank alongside of the great properties which have made Tintic famous the world over We have every reason to be proud of our present showing said Mr Riter and the prospects ahead are of the most encouraging nature Mammoth situated about midway between Eureka and Silver City takes its name from the great mine This camp too has been very i7 rrn r d a y ii7rs 1 year soon to close It has a population of probably 300 Many new residences have been erected additions made to others and among one of the best of the former is a neat schoolhouse large enough to accommodate all the children of school age in the camp At Diamond also there is quite a revival in old and new mining interests and tho came now bids fair to soon resume some of its former prestige Three miles north of Eureka proper is situated situ-ated North Eureka district and in which are located lo-cated many promising prospects and claims which bid fair to rival Eureka on the south Not enough work has yet been done to justify any positive prediction as to the future of this section but there is every reason to believe that It will not be long ere North Eureka will be renowned from one end of tho Territory yes even from one end of the entire countryto the other as a rich and promising addition to the great mineral ground of Utah It is confidently expected that within a year at least North Eureka will com to the front in a way that will forever set at rest any fears that may yet bo entertained by the doubting Thomases In and around Homansville there are at least I I one hundred claims upon which more or less i work has been done and while there are many that will never realize the hopes of the prospectors pros-pectors it Is but fair to say that thero are others which will do more than this Thero are many embryo BullionBecks Eureka Hills CentennialEurekas and Mammoths yet to be discovered and there can be no doubt but that the present comparatively neglected districts in and around Eureka will yet come to the front as big and steady producers adding materially to the output of one of the wealthiest wealth-iest camps in the great western mining region and of which Utah Is the central gem THE BULLIONBECK What the Ontario Is to the Park the Bullion Beck is to Eureka The history of the property prop-erty if one wore to go into details would read like a romance Situated almost in the centre of the camp its buildings can be seen miles awaylong before the town is reached As indicated by its name the mine was originally discovered by John Beck sometime in the year 1870 Until four or five years ago however how-ever development progressed very slowly At that time improvements began to be made and since then its fame as an oreproducer has rapidly extended The BullionBeck is probably tho best equipped mine in the Tintic district being fully supplied with all modern im 1L r ° G1iIIV7 I f l I + I Li It il I A t I r I lilliii v faZ 1 Y II in If during the year thus giving double tho storage capacity heretofore hereto-fore The works are surrounded by fire hy dranst the water having more than a pressure sufficient to cover the highest of the through the latters shaft The mine is owned by John Beck Application for the output out-put for the year was refused but there can boo bo-o doubt but the Caroline was among tho heav iest and richest shippers of the great camp THE EUREKA HILL Tho principal improvement made by this famous property during the year was the erec tion of an ore house with a capacity of 5000 i tons This is situated immediately west of the hoisting works and near the edge of tho dump It is most conveniently located tho Union Pacific Pa-cific switch running along the north side mod the Rio Grande Western main track on the south The building is solid and substantial The mine has yielded heavily during the year and a great deal of development and exploration has been done The shaft is now down to the 1100 foot level 200 feet having been sunk during tho past year At this writing no ore is being shipped but it is being mined and piled up probably awaiting a rise in the metal market The mine employs all the way from 100 to 150 men but being a very close corporation exact figures that are not to be had as to output divi dends etc This much however may be stated The mine is in most excellent shape and the ore resources are as large if not larger than they ever were CENTENNIAL EUREKA Among tho Utah mines that have taken a sudden sud-den lunge to the front during the past few years is the CentennialEureka If is easily within the memory of all when the mice was but promising prospect and when stoat now held stiff at 859 went aboggingat 83 and SI The statement recently submitted to the stockholders stockhold-ers showed that there had been paid in dividends divi-dends during the past nine months S330COO and there is every reason to believe that the showing show-ing made in tho future will be much more favorable favor-able than in the past In the improvements im-provements will be inaugurated among whictt will doubtless be a new and complete hoisting works and a tramway from the mine to the Rio Grande Western road Owing to the location loca-tion of this mine away up on the mountain side the wagon haul is necessarily of great length and cuts into the profits or the company A tramway of 1500 feet In length will obviate this however and allow the ore to be loaded directly on the cars The improvements contemplated con-templated will cost all the way from 50000 to 560000 The ore sales during the year reached the magnificent sum of 535005751 Since July 1890 there has been paid iu dividends 430000 In July 18S9 J225DO was paid making the total to date 5502500 THE DIAMOND The Diamond is located just over the ridge from and adjoining tho CentennialEureka The company is incorporated for 50000 shares ° 1 each A shaft house 40x0 has been lately built and a steam hoist will soon be placed In position The shaft is down 170 feet Two shifts ave employed Drifting will commence at the 300 foot level unless the vein is encountered encount-ered before that depth is reached The property prop-erty is right on a line with the main belt and mining men generally concede that the Diamond Dia-mond has a future before it The officers are W J Shirk president J E Oglesby secretary secre-tary and treasurer THE KEYSTONE The Keystone is on the same mineral belt as the Bullion Beck and Eureka Hill and is owned by J Q Packard J H McChrystal et al The Keystone proper is but a narrow strip of mining min-ing ground lying between the Red Bird on the cast and the Champion of the BullionBeck Champion group on the west The shaft sunk to work the GeminI ground was started on the narrow strip and consequently the whole group took the name of the Keystone while the ore is i being extract from the north end of the RedBird Red-Bird and the southern end of the Gemini with a strike 30 degrees west of north the same as in the other big mines The Keystone became famous the season just passed for the numerous numer-ous big strikes of very rich ore and has already repaid its owners the cost of developing the property A few years ago the Gemini company com-pany bought the Voltaire and Silver Coin two locations lying I east of the Gemini i and a group of five other locations lying north of the Silver Coin that tool in the lime and syenite contact The company sunk a shaft and placed a large hoist on one of the group and are now connecting this shaft with the third level of the Keystone by a drift that will be sit O s-it i is said 23 0 feet in length When completed this drift will furnish splendid ventilation for the whole group of claims and means of exit incase in-case of accident in the mine Next on the strike of the main ore vein system sys-tem John Beck has a fraction of a claim called THE CROWN POINT Mr Beck has a shaft over one hundred feet in depth and needs but to crosscut westerly from the bottom of the shaft a short distance I to tap another stream of dividends This is i evident from the developments made in the Gemini Laying north of Becks ground is THE REIKIBUTION owned by Tone and Hopper But little work has been done on this property but the York tulle lying north of and adjoining it shows the same vein in a 200 foot tunnel and the same dikes of ferruginous porphory and porcelainite that lie east of the big mines on the vein southerly south-erly from this claim as far as the Centenni l Eureka Next to the Yorkville sTIlE s-TIlE JIYPATIA the property of Sam A Moore of Provo the son of Tmtics first recorder Then comes the Colorado Belle owned by Will C Higgins at the Salt LaKe Exchange Journal and Major Thomas M Flynn a wellknown typo THE SHAilROCK group owned by W L Scott of Eureka Robert Wetherlll of Los Angeles county Cal and Dan Swan of the United States marshals staff comes next This property shows the same characteristics as the big payers and needs but depth to make a shipper North of tho Shamrock a party of Salt Lake attorneys have patented nearly five hundred acres of valuable mineral ground and are awaiting the time when men with less money but more pluck and faith will improvo it by developing mines all around them It may bo legal but looks unfair that a man or party of men be allowed to secure title to so much ground by simply running a tunnel a few fee on one claim It is well for them it was done when it was as we will have a good honest secretary of the interior under a Democrat i c President in 1893 Through the great mineral zone lying between be-tween the eruptive rocks on the east and the quartzite dike on the west run vein systems almost parallel with a slight divergencies as they northerly Tho strike of all these systems sys-tems is abdut 30 degrees west of north On the north side of Keystone hill there is a large horse of trachyte that divides the Keystone from the B B C oro channels Above I gave a list of the claims supposed to be on the east vein now OIl theest or B B C channel and joining tho companys claim oho o-ho northerly strike is THE SACRAMENTO group owned by John Davis William Hatfield and Newman brothers of Eureka The strike made some time ago on the fourth level north in the Champion cannot be far from the south J end lino of this valuable property and is said to be improving right along If any one can claim a sure thing in mining it Is on this group and the Retribution Next to the Sacramento lies THE BLACK WARRIOR owned by County Selectman Billings Constable Consta-ble Sullivan Colonel Sam Nelson and others of Eureka This claim shows exactly the samo surface indications as its neighbors south and will yet be a producer Next in tho system is THE MANHATTA of the Tone and Hopper group A shaft has been sunk 100 feet from the bottom of which a drift is being run to tap some croppings that t assay well which the drift will tap 150 feet deep Next to the Manhatta Is THE JORAVE owned by Billings Hopper and homes There I is a strong vein of black quartz that gives assays of twelve ounces silver and 82 in gold right on tho surface This is one of the most promising properties north of Eureka Postmaster I Post-master James P Driscoll his brother John Hand H-and Pioche Harrington have nearly forty acres of patented ground next to the Joravo that will place them among Utahs bonanza kings before many moons Messrs Hudson Smith and Faulkner of Salt Lake city aro the fortunate owners of THE BROOKLYN north of the Driscoll ground and have very encouraging indications in tho shaft they arc now having sunk on their claim Then comes the Alabama Charley Nelsons favorite property prop-erty then the Wide West owned by Dan Dris coll Joe TomHaskins and Frank Harris then the flouts Tone Kennedy owners next the Red Rock owned by Nelson Tone and Har kips then the Allegheny the property of Mat Elliott one of the pioneers of North Tintic and then the Virgin and Northern Belle owned by A D Campbell of Denver and C M Hammond Ham-mond of Salt Lake THE MAMMOTH OF THE NORTH and Tiernans big lead mine are a mile or two r still further north but are undoubtedly on the same vein system THE SNOWFLAKE The Snowflake is owned by William Hatfield A whim house 25x50 has been built The shaft is down 170 feet from the surface and a tunnel has been run to the length of 280 feet There is good ore in sight and big bodies of it The Rio Grando Vestern rnn within fA fA + n n u he Snowflake and the advent of the new line will do much to encourage shipments in the early spring THE TETRO The shaft of this very promising property bas reached nearly three hundred feet Tho mine Is owned by Noah McChrystal who beeves be-eves from present indications that he has a most excellent property even though no shipments ship-ments have yet been made ° THE EAGLE The contemplated sale appears to have fallen fal-len through The mine has produced about 5 50 0 in the past and it is understood that it is now held at 200000 It is well developed and will yet meet with a purchaser who will make money out of his buy THE SACRAIIE TOT TO-T e Sacramento group consists of four claims and is under bond until June next It is 10 rated in an excellent country and will prob ably bo ranked among the shippers soon There The-re so far produced is of very good quality but r no shipments have vet been made w THE GODIVA The Godiva is a mine that is rapidly coming to the front and will ere long be reckoned among the best of the great camp in which It Is located A recent strike showed ore averaging 150 silver and 40 lead The main owner Is J Q Packard while J H McChrystal also has a big slIce of the stock The Rio Grande Western will pass within a very short distance of the Godiva and will prove a big saving in the costal hauling the ore to market Early in the spring It not sooner the Godiva will be classed among the Jarge and rich producers of Eureka THE BAJGEK The Banger is under bond to John Beck for J250CO It Is owned by S H Nelson is in a line r with the CentennialEureka and is looked upon by mining men as being a very promising prop rty MINERAL HILL GROUP Two miles northwest of Eureka is Mineral Hill and upon this is a group of claims bearing that name They are owned by Judge J S iVatts Chas L Brown and A J F BeaumiTh They are on a line with the Keystone and are developed by two shafts and a tunnel Large quantities of good ore are in sight THE GENERAL LOGAN The General Logan is developed by shafts and inclines shows up very good ore several small shipment having been made THE MARKS GROUP Mrs Marks owns the Pluto Hades and Styx which she is developing with very good results L THE PASADENA The Pasadena has made several small shipments ship-ments during the year The group is situated about one mile northwest of Eureka Five or six men are kept steadily employed THE AUGUST The August Is also owned by Judge Smith It adjoins the Bavaria and the ore is similar in quality The advent of the Rio Grande Western West-ern will do much to accelerate the development of both these properties THE BAVARIA The Bavaria is owned by Judge Allan A Smith and is situated near the Northern Spy 1 The ore carries 60 ounces silver and from 20 to 25 per cent lead r THE MAJIMOTH In and around the Mammoth there is an afro thrift and prosperity Improvements are the order of the day A new air compressor has been lately added which has four times the capacity ca-pacity the one that has been in use so long the foundation on which the new machinery rests is 35x18 and 8 feet In depth There is a complete electric plant furnishing 200 lights which are distributed throughout the mines and other buildings An addition has been made to the carpenter shop and saw mill and another contemplated at an early date The boardinghouse has been enlarged a nept and commodious office erected three hydrant houses fully equipped with hose put up and additions made to many of the dwellings Improvements I Im-provements have also been made in the bunkhouse t bunk-house which is two stories in heighth and 25r 60 feet in size The assay office is one of the most complete In the territory and is in charge of T H Hayden There is telephone connection connec-tion with the BullionBeck and the Northern Spy which is an improvement improve-ment greatly appreciated The shaft is a single compartment and is now 1 flown 600 feet from tho engine room or 900 feet from the surface or disco very point and the indications in-dications throughout the mine are of the most encouraging nature The mine has reached its milliondollar rank in dividends paid to shareholders share-holders that having been celebrated on the 20th of November last The approach of the Rio Grande Western railway which will reach the foot of Mammoth hollow by the middle of February Feb-ruary at the latest is eagerly awaited by the Mammoth people and everybody else having claims in that locality From tho grade as at present indicated however the main line will not reach the mine but will go on west A branch however can be built at a reasonable cost and this will undoubtedly un-doubtedly be done providing the Union Pacific does not reach Mammoth first by extending its line from the neighborhood of the Eureka Hill at Eureka In either event Mammoth will have a railway in a short time which wIJ do much towards increasing the output out-put of this rich district Mr J A Cunningham Cunning-ham Vicepresident of the Mammoth company says it Is not too much to assert that with a railway at Mammoth in two years tho output of that camp would be fully equal to half of the present output of Eureka There arc dozens of good properties now lying idle that would spring into prominence at once and prove remunerative remunera-tive both to the owners and to the railroad entering en-tering Mammoth TIlE COPPEROPOLIS The Copperopolis is lying idle and no one seems to have any idea when the mine will again be put upon the list of producers It is a good property Ko shipments were made during dur-ing the year now closing TilE ACCIDENT The Accident is owned mainly by C Woolf of this city Some development work has been done during the year TINTIC IRON MINES The Tlntic iron mines are among the most remarkable re-markable in the entire territory and about the only ones that ate worked to any extent Properly speaking they are not mines but quarries as they are all out of doors requiring no tunnels shafts or inclines They arc located about two miles from Silver Cityin Dragon Hallowand are owned by the Tintic Iron company in which John Sharp W W Tutor George Y Wallace C W Lyman and other Salt Lakers are interested inter-ested Tbe ores arc used for fluxing purposes only and when the Horn Silver smelter was running the output was considerably larger than it now is This year the product will reach in round figures 13030 tons The supply is simply inexhaustible In a short time work will be started on an open cut to be made a couple of hundred feet below the present workings work-ings and this will avoid the present steep and tortoreous ascent via the dugway to the mines Experts believe that a big body of rich silver ore will yet be encountered on this property I There are very good indications as silver mines are located all around it The oro is being mined under the superintendency of Mr L E Riter THE SUNBEAM The various owners of the stretch of mining country known as the Sunbeam mine have done a great deai of work and made several urge shipments during the year The mine is hopped up into many small fragments however how-ever each of which is operated independently of the others and this tends to retard the proper working of what would otherwise be a big producer With one company in entire control con-trol the Sunbeam could soon be made one of the heaviest and richest shippers in the whole district The output for the year was 101600 pounds THE GREY HOCK The Grey Rock made but one shipment during I dur-ing 1891 19150 pounds Considerable development develop-ment work was done It is under lease and bond to Dennis Sullivan and Hans Olo THE UNDINE I The Undine is owned by H D Jones It shipped 170100 pounds of very good ore and some work has also been done in a development develop-ment way The Undine promises well in every particular NORTHERN SPY There are immense quantities of ore in sight I More than we have In the BullionBeck says I Mr Hyde The shipments dunngthe year have been small but a great deal of development work has been done and the property prop-erty is being rapidly placed in firstclass condition The shaft is now down TOO feet besides drifts cross cuts etc and every days work adds to the encouragement encour-agement of the owners The extension of the Union Pacific now being made will reach within a mile of the Spy and will enable the ores to be marketed with greater facility and less cost than can be done at present The output for the year reached 10J20000 pounds No ore is being shipped at present but the owners are confident that the year 1892 will see a very large output from the Spy THE OPHONGO This property is owned by William Hatlleld and James A Shear It is located in Mammoth Mam-moth hollow There is pleny of good ore insight in-sight the haft being down 180 feet No shipments ship-ments have yet been made but the early spring will find the Ophongo among the producers of Tintic THE SILVER SPAR Walker Bros of Salt Lake are the pwners of the Silver Spar which is one of the Showers Consolidated During the year the shipments reached 8350 pounds THE MORNING GLORY Henry W Lawrences Morning Glory had but one small shipment 22200 pounds THE DUTCUER BOY The Butcher Boy is also owned by Walker Bros The shipments were 108900 pounds TIlE SWANSEA The Swansea is owned and operated by L E Riter C V Wheeler G C Elmer George Pax man and William Hatfield It is a very promising prom-ising poporty the output being 193450 pounds e SOUTH SWANSEA Up to five months ago the South Swansea was unheard of At that time however Tom Croxall of this city located it and immediately I commenced work At a depth of only forty feet I he encountered the vein and has made steady i shipments ever since tho output reaching 209 9DO pounds There is every indication that Mr Croxall has one of the best properties in the aistrict and he will push work with that idea in view THE JULIAN LANE The Julian Lane is owned by Michigan parties par-ties Not a great deal of work has been done during the year but the output reached 119200 pounds THE NORTH STAR The Star is owned by HWLawrence of Salt Lake and Mr Milan Packard of Springvillo The ore is of very good quality and there was 1200DO pounds shipped MARTHA WASHINGTON But two shipments have been made during the year from this property but a good deal of work of different kinds has been done by the owners George W Shell and J H McCooey There were 51100 pounds of ore shipped SILVER MOON The Moon is owned by the Tintio Mining and Milling company The shipments were very light 1000 pounds i I ESTELLA Six thousand eight hundred pounds of ore was produced by the Estella THE PRIMROSE The Primrose produced 17550 pounds TilE BROOKLYN Milan Packard of Springville is the owner of the Brooklyn upon which he has done considerable con-siderable development work during the year The shipments were two in number aggregat gating 79000 pounds THE TESORA The Tesora is owned aud worked by C H Blanchard of Silver It is a very promising claim although the shipments were light this year reaching only 68000 pounds TilE GUM DROP Quite a little development and exploration work has been done by W W Hinch The shipments reached 67650 pounds THE SHOWERS The Showers was a very light shipper only 5400 pounds reaching the market THE GOVERNOR John Beck is the owner of the Governor which ho believes has the making of a very good mine It is only partially developed the shipments reached 59950 pounds THE RISING SUN Nine thousand three hundred pounds came from the Sun which is owned by H C Wilkin and is under bond and lease to H C Hoffman TilE PARK Only 3500 pounds of ore were shipped TilE SIOUX GROUP This group of mines is owned by C E Loose T R Cutler S S Jones and others of Utah county Work is being pushed with all the confidence con-fidence that characterizes owners of a good mine and there appears to be no chance for confidence being misplaced The shipments reached 807350 pounds and will be greatly increased in-creased during the next twelve months The owners are very anxious to erect leaching works to be run in connection with the mine and it is quite possible construction will bo commenced in the early spring THE TREASURE J E Dooly and Thomas Marshall are the owners of the Treasure Considerable work has been done and the shipments to date reach 3139503 pounds I THE LUCKY The Lucky is an oldtimer and developed by a I tunnel merely It has changed hands probably a dozen times and considerable ore was shipped I years ago It had lain idle for some time however how-ever when the mining fever again broke out a I short time ago and C R Hancock took hold of I it He had done but little work when he encountered en-countered a vein of fine ore which promises to develop as work progresses The flrstclass I assays about 100 ounces silver and 50 per cent I lead while the second shows 50 silver and 39 lead Mr Hancock has at least i25 0 worth of ore on the dump now but will not make a shipment I ship-ment until he has mined 100 tons The Lucky j is not being mined it is merely being gouged and with systematic development will prove to be well worthy its name EUREKA CONSOLIDATED i This property is owned by S W Eccles F i H Dyer W H Remington and J S Cameron jit I is located immediately back of the Mammoth Mam-moth The shaft is down about 215 feet There t is no ore yet but the owners think they have I an
