Show I RAILWAY CIRCLES The Big Consolidation to Take Place ToDay WHAT WILL THE HARVEST BE A Gala Night Garfields SandsThe Attractions Attrac-tions at Lake ParkA Big Wool Shipment Ship-ment Personal This is tho day so long advertised by the Utah Central for the stockholders of that road to consider the vital question of the big consolidation The roads which iti is proposed to consolidate under one big management man-agement are the Utah Central railroad the Utah Northern the Oregon Short Line tho Salt Lake Western the Utah Ne Tada the Ogden Syracuse the Idaho Central and thu Nevada Pacific The directors of each of these companies have entered into an agreement subject to the approval of the stockholders and todays meeting will be the first one at which the consolidation consolida-tion is to be discussed The meetings of the Utah Noyada and the Salt Lake Western are advertised in this issue for the 17th ins Without doubt the project if carried out as there is every reason to believe it will be means a revolutionizing of the railroad systems in this section A HUIUID reporter yesterday encountered encoun-tered one of those high up in the Union Pacific Pa-cific railroad councils and had a talk with him over the new project Tho gentleman did not wish to have his name quoted but the substance of his talk was to this effect First he said that there was no doubt the cbn solidatlon would be a good thing for all parties and for the Utah Central stockholders espcc ally The stock of that road bad stiffened 50 per cent since tho subject was first mooted and whereas a few months ago it could be had for Git had risen as high as 35 and CO was now the ruling price lie thought there would be lit I tie or no objection in the meeting today to the consolidation but if the Utah Central stockholders stock-holders decided to keep out of the arrangement he ought that the other roads would go ahead and consolidate anyway The result would be that on January 1 1890 the Utah Central would have a million dollars In bonds maturing on the road between here and Ogden and in ItfJ another million on the road from hero to Juab The bondholders would foreclose and where would the stockholders be then He was asked what he thought about tho sent of the management manage-ment for this big system and be replied that he had no doubt it would be in Salt Lake city He also said there was little question but that the present offices would be wiped out when ibo consolidation was effected and the whole would be run under tho big head of affairs Asked as to who this I head would probably be he smiled shrevvdiy and said rumor had a good many names but the most prominent one mentioned was that of Mr Cumming As to the disposition of the forces in the local railway ofliccs he said anything he might venture would be mere conjecture and he preferred to say nothing |
