Committee The Peoples Territorial Convention met at the Legislative Chamber in the City Hall yesterday at 12 noon for the purpose of nominating a delegate tot to-t e Fiftyfirst Congress Soon after the hour named John II Winder called the convention to order and nominated W W Cluff of Summit I County for chairman Mr Cluff briefly hanked the assembly for the honor conferred and suggested that the next business in order was the selection of a secretary On motion of Elias A Smith George D Pyper was elected The gentleman read the call as published in THE HERALD On motion of Wilson H Dusenberry the representatives from the different counties were instructed to hand in a ist of their delegates to the seretary ihis being done it showed the following follow-ing persons present as entitled to who had ever worked assiduously for the flOOd of the people of the Territory whom he has so long and faithfully represented It was none other than thatof the Hon Jobn T Caiae Tile little speech met with a he ivy round of applause and when the enthusiasm had sped itself the nomination was seconded by Wilson H Dusenberry There being no other nominees John T Caine was chosen by eo3lamation there were no negative votes and a round of appause followed THE CENTRAL COMMITTEE The election of a Territorial Central Committee for the ensuing year was the next busness Mr Hatch wanted the names of the old committee read in order that they might bireelecteu oy acclamation Mr Smith objected Heretofore the committee had consisted of thirty five thirtyhree being from the various counties and two at large These latter were lepresented by the female portion of our population popu-lation He therefore moved as an amendment that the two ladies be dropped and the positions be given to the largest informed that such was the case Mr Reid was present and could speak for himself him-self Mr RiterIf he is now is a good ch nce to reform him Mr Reid arose He had he said no connection with the Democratsthe eentKman referred to was doubtless W K Reid When Sevier County was called W M See miller wss nominated Mr Roaeche suggested that ho was a Democrat Dem-ocrat or had at least participated in the late Democratic convention MR HATCHI take pleasure in placing plac-ing in nomination tha nanra of Isaac K Wright I dont know whether Mr Seefrmiller is a Democrat or not but I know that he voted on the wrong side during the late Legislature JUDGE SMITH But we got there just the same A MEMBER move Mr Seegmiller be given a chance to reform Mr Hatch however in ° isted upon his nominee and Mr
