Show BEFORE JUDGE HENDERSON Proceedings iu the Court at Provo Yesterday Before Judge Henderson yesterday the following cases were disposed of Hans 0 Hansen nnlawtul cohabitation cohabita-tion arraigned entered a plea of guilty and promised to obey the law sentence et for the 3d of November Henry Beal entered a plea of guilty and was sentenced to three months and fine 300 Peter M Petersen also entered a plea of guilty and promised to obey the law but as his marriage with his plural wife was since the passage of the Ed munds law the Judge sentenced him to three months and costs of prosecution prosecu-tion Peter C Hansen entered a plea of guilty and promised to obey the law his last marriage was in 1882 and he had continued to cohabit with the plural wife which the Court took into consideration con-sideration and sentenced him to sixty days in the pen c Christian Anderson entered a plea of guilty sentence was postponed till Later in the day The grand Jury returned twenty indictments fifteen United States The People vs Albert Ethier was called and the work of empaneling a jury is in progress Lengthy arguments were made as to the admission of Arthur Brown to assist the prosecution It was finally permitted but subordinate to the Prosecuting Attorney Mr Evans W H Dixon S K Thurruau and Geo Sutherland defend The prosec moved for a continuance of the c until next term or later in this as A material witness could not be found Affidavits were made by defense that said witness Gil Johnson was a fugitive fugi-tive from justice and in all probability could not be found The Court thought if the witness could be had at all it would be by the time ho would be wanted and denied the continuance |
