Show BY TELEGRAPH l the Michigan Republican Convention GcAXDlUritH Mich August2fi The Repuolicau state convention met again this morning Austin Blair was announced an-nounced the permanent chairman i Cyrus G Luce was nominated for governor gov-ernor by acclamation by a riling and uproarous vote James A McDonald of Escanabas was nominated by acclamation accla-mation for lIetten4ni governor The platform adopted favors a tariff upon imported products of lower priced foreign labor and restoration of the IbfiT tariff on wool The organization of labor for the projection of their interests inter-ests was favored as also the enactment of laws for the settlement of centre er ales by arbitration The platform opposed op-posed the importation of Chinese labor the abolishment of convict labor provided pro-vided free labor will notbe compelled to support the convicts in idleness opposes op-poses the doctrine of anarchy and advocates advo-cates the absolute protection of every individual in the enjoyment of the fruits of his personal elects advocates that the people should be allowed to vote upon any change in the laws as alT ting t-ing liquor selling and opposes the grunting of public domain to aliens The resolutions advocate free pensions to disabled veterans uuJ widows and condemns the president for the vetoes and for the coarse and insolent terms in which tbos vetoes are expressed The ticket was completed as follows G W Osman Secretary of State G L Maltz treasurer Recess was taken without action on the resolutions It is thought one member will present a minority report on the temperance question The platform condemns Mormonism and favors its suppression by a rigid enforcement of laws h s the civil authorities au-thorities ana by military if necessary The minority report was adopted pledging the Republican party unreservedly unre-servedly to prohibition but the resolutions resolu-tions as reported by the majority was adopted by a large majority and the convention adjourned I |
