Show CITY COUNCIL Th < r Go A EM the Fonith and Summer Drinks The City Council met at the usual hrur last evening Mayor Anmstrong presiding pz1itioyi Bernhard Springer and T C Bailey a committee appo nted by James B Mc Kean Post GA R asked that they be allowed to celebrate on Monday July I 5th at Liberty Park and to sell ice cream cakes summer drinks etc free of license There was some discussion as to to the advisability of allowing booths to be set up in the Park and Recorder Re-corder Wells said the committee wished to meet their expenses by selling refreshments re-freshments Mr J P Wells asked what Grand Army summer drinks comprised It was finally moved that that portion of the petition asking leave to celebrate in the Park be granted subject to any regulation the Mayor might see fit to impose regarding the portion of the Park 5s be occupied Carried It was decided i that they 1t should be allowed to cell harmless I summer drinks outside of the Park free of license A J Peacock A F Youngbcrg and J L Hughes were granted licenses as retail liquor dealers KEPORTS Jesse W Fox city surveyor in accordance ac-cordance with instructions from the Council submitted the street and sidewalk side-walk profiles of grade on South Temple Street from Sixth to Eleventh East Referred to the confmittce on streets and alleys The committee on waterworks reported re-ported that they bad examined and found correct the last quarterly report of Superintendent of Waterworks The committee on Fire Department reported similarly on the quarterly report re-port of the Chief Enginee The cbmmtttee on municipal laws In reference to the assayers petition asking II ask-ing a reduction of license reported adversely Adopted The committee on munic pal laws andre and-re sion with reference to the matter of revising the city ordinances recommended recom-mended that the work of revision be referred to the city anltoney with authority to hire clerical service to aid him and that 1000 be appropriated to defray expenses Adopted SIr S-Ir Taylor advocated the letting of contracts to do work on the streets of II the city instead of having it performed under the direction of street supervisor and by prison labor as at present He moved the reference of the matter to he committee on street and alley for consideration Carried The Council then adjourned for one week |
