Show Sun Spots On Monday Dr Frink was out with his telescope and gave the inhabitants in-habitants of the city an opportunity to see the spots on the sun They were exceedingly clear and more numerous than jan < < usually be discerned dis-cerned Some persons Mr Frink says attribute cold weather to these spots but he says it is all nonsense that it should have any local effect It is generally conceded that these spots are indications of extreme meterological changes but these changes if they occur are general and in no reason can local atmospheric atmo-spheric changes be attributed to this cause It is also an accepted idea that the more numerous the spots and the clearer they are seen the greater is the effect metereo logically On Monday five or six discernable large groups were very clearly cernable through the telescope and a sort of fringe could be seen around each of the black spots which fact is attributed to an opening in the clouds or vapor surrounding the sun and which admits of deeper penetratiun Whatever may be the reason for and whatever the effects of these dark spots a look at them through Mr Frinks telescope will shatter many an idolfor it shows that great good brilliant and useful use-ful as the noble orb of day may be even it is not without spots and blemishes ThiS being the case it ought not to smite the conscience of the great and good of this earth if they were to overlook occasionally occasion-ally the supposed spots on a fellow creatures character |
