Show Slandering Dead Editors Herald Perhaps you will kindly insert the following communication which for reasons dt is hoped it may be unnecessary un-necessary to make public did not appear in the paper to which it was addressed but for which omission it is but proper to state the Tribune is not responsible SALT LAKE CITY I Sunday July 17 t I i Editors Daily Tribune tj It was with deep regret I read in your issue of this morning the scurrilous notice of the death of Joseph Young sen and am unwilling unwil-ling to believe it was inserted with your knowledge or approval Mr Youngs religious faith is not now the question but his natural goodness of heart his uniform kindness kind-ness and courtesy and his love of justice and right caused him to be justly respected and beloved by the Mormon people as well as by many others who deeply sympathize with his bereaved family The best evidence of his integrity and of his unselfish devotion to what he believed to be right is the fact that he died poor so far as this worlds goods are concerned though rich in the affections of his people a fact thatconsidering the circumstances circum-stances and opportunities by which he was surroundedmust be as consoling con-soling to his friends as it is honorable honor-able to himself Respectfully lV H SHEARMAN |
