Show iRE HERALD AND THE CANAL I I j The HERALD conscientiously advises I ad-vises the people of this city to vote 1 I o for the loan Icmorrow We are I honest and sincere in the expression of the belief that it will ha for the h bet good of the community if the i Cty Council be authorised to borrow t j money with which to increase the water supply of f the city There can I be no job or steal in this loan The money must be expended in procuring procur-ing water Wise and ample provision I ft i It provi-sion is made for the payment of the debt at an euly day and without oppressing the taxpayers The I j HERALD has confidence in the abilty I and integrity of Mayor Little and the City Council It believes they will expend ex-pend the money as wisely judiciously j economically and conscientiously as if it were their own private means We believe they will be sure they are right before they go ahead that is we believe they will not squander money in constructing a canal that will not be successful We believeth believe-th will proceed cautiously and in accordance with what science skill I experience end good judgment shall 1 ouggest We believe that if the loan l < l f shall be voted no one will ever regrel hia vote in its favor and if it be de I featoi that the failure will ever aftej 1 1 be cause for regret on the put ol those who voted against it |
