Show Burial ofGcncral Srttior Litiz Pa 24Jobn A Sutler the distinguished pioneer and philanthropist of early Calirornia was buried today at this piece The funeral was attended by delegations of veteran Californians from Ne 7 York and Philadelphia members of tae society of Associated Pioneer of the territorial days among whom were present General J 0 Fremont H G Gibson the latter presidcntofthesociety General Sutler had been embalmed and enclosed in a massive rosewood casket ana while his remains lay in state in his residence in Litiz they were viewed by over 500 people who came in from tho surrounding country They were buried with tho simple services of the Moravian Church performed by Rev Charles Kagle and laid at rest in the beautiful grounds adjacent to the church They were followed to the grave by the grandchildren grand-children of the deceased od soldier by the pioneers among whom were somo of his associates in California in ISiC and by nearly 300 of his friends and neighbors neigh-bors in Litiz Tho pallborars were General John C Fremont General H G Gibson E E Kemble JQ Nut man Francis G Clark J S Sherwood J F McClosky William Walter audI aud-I W Doling John Sickles H K Cummings Cum-mings and S I Quent At conclusion of the burial servico General Gibson de livered a brief but Impressive oulozy over the deceased Ho was followed by General Front who referred t his friendship for General Setter commencing commenc-ing thirtysix years ago when he first arrived in California As the coffin was srrle labored into the grave a large and leauti ul floral pillow brought by his veteran Viands and sssocitoi 11 placpd over tho remains I bore the inscripiioa California pioneer we loved him |
