Show A Failure Somewhat of a ripple was created in business circles yesterday morning morn-ing by the announcement that Rev G M Pierce stationer and bookseller booksel-ler had made an assignment for the benefit of his creditors Mr Pierces card of explanation being addressed to the tribune the news did not gain that circulation it might have otherwise done and it was only when customers began to enter the store during the day that the failure fail-ure became generally known According Ac-cording to Mr Peirces communication communica-tion the trouble was caused within the past fortyeight houis by the action of certain parties who tried to force a settlement Thesecertain parties are generally understood to be the London Bank of Utah who i held Mr Peirces paper to the i amount of about 2300 The total liabilities are over S30COO due to eastern dealers and personal friends in this city the only preferences made in the assignment are in favor of a number of these friends the I greater part of whom are ladies whose money Mr Pierce held in trust The assignee is Mr T C GriffittSj the attorney |
