Show Blankets Stolen Last evenin Commodore Davis of Day C missed four pairs of blankets from in front of his store where they were on exhibition He proceeded np street and entered the second hand store just south of Savages Sav-ages Barer where he saw a couple of them He asked where tbey had been obtained and was answered by tbe remark I just bought tbem from him pointing to a fellow in the store but who at this point made I break from the stars and up the street close followed by Commodore Davis Thi commodore was too much for the fellow and caught him about a block above the Council House The fellow came back nearly a block when another person was met and the prisoner refu ed to go farther Here Mr David Yearsloy stepped up when the second unknown un-known po eon told the prisoner to stab or kill his captor and knives were drawn on Messrs Davis and Yearaley both of whom were unarmed un-armed and in the scuffle that ensued tbe two got away Subsequently Mr Davis < armed himself and began peregrinating Shortly afterwards after-wards be ran across a person he believed to be the man he was after and he followed him several blocks endeavoring to assure himself that he had struck the proper person when by a sudden turn and a short ran the pursued left the commodore in the rear Officers Phillips and Pratt being told of the occurrence picked up a couple of fellows who bnd been arrested on a similar charge before but Mr Davis could not identify them as the men and they were released Two pairs of blanket have been recovered the others are non est About 130 oclock this morning these same two fellows were arrested while in bed at the Orerland House They bad previously changed clothes with each other and one had put on A cap it is also believed they haTed 88 Mr Davis said the man he nabbst had side whiskers When awakeaec the fellow said he had no cap but it wa subsequently found under the mattress They are noV in jai Tbey are supposed to be two of a gang that ia doing so much petty thieving at present |
