Show A Daxgerons Maniac About four weeks ago an item was published of a man named D Mudge who raised a racket on tho street one night between the hours of 12 and 1 oclock by praying in aloud a-loud voice He was urst heard near the Council House where he prayed so loud that Nightwatchman Watson Wat-son thought some drunken person was yelling and he accosted Mudge who stated that he was determined t find out whether there was a God in heaven and would pray three times at the midnight hour He I then prayed in the middle of Main street where the cars tracks cross and again in the middle oE the street opposite Wells Fargo Cos bank He was subsequently arrested ar-rested for obtaining meals under false pretenses He was then los sight of On Thursday night Sheriff Wm l Clark of Richfield Sevier County brought this same man to this city and on Friday took him to the Insane Asylum where he now remains Since leaving leav-ing here Mudge has succeeded in getting into considerable trouble and has proven himself to be a dangerous maniac At Mono he aui ran across Branch Young an averring that he Young was the devil knocked him down At Levan in the same county Juab lie declared that an old lady was the Satanic majesty and also knocked her down with a club At Black Knolls he attacked Mr H Nebeker and a crowd and knocked number of them down when he was seize and taken to his home at Anabelle Sevier County where his sister a married lady resides The day after he was left at his sisters he commenced com-menced boarding up the door and fireplace saying they would have to I live in the house for the next forty days and that he would have to dig a well in the house to supply them with water He did board up the door and fire place The next day however his madness always of a religious phase assumed another form and he came out and assailed his sister with an ae He knocked her down and struck her on the cheek then on the neck on the shoulder on the back and other places striking her seven times in all and would have killed her had not persons come in and with guns compelled him to desist His gn while severely cut and bruised will recover having seized the axe and held on to it a well a she could Mudge worked for a time at Frisco where he i believed to have jot lead on the brain which led to this terrible malady which Ia assumed sumed such a very dangerous form lie will remain at the Asylum until fully recovered |
