Show II The Newhall Fire Case Milwaukee 12In the Scheller case today Wm Sanderson and Thomas Dunbar testified to meeting the accused in Newbours gambling house close by the fated Newhall at 3 oclock on the rooming of the lire Scheller sat in a game of poker but the attendant made him cash in his chips on the ground that he was too drunk Sanderson Dun bar and Scheller left at the same tune and Scheller asked the others to go to his saloon and t eA bathe of wine which they refused He was next seen at the lire by numerous numer-ous parties The prosecution showed pretty conclusively that tile elevator shaft was clean and the I basement contained no material to furnish ppoiitaneous combustion The woman who was hid in the basement till 11 oclock at night before be-fore the fire smelt gas escaping all the evening An insurance agent testified that he held a policy ci 2000 on the stock which expired at noon on the day of the fire He had a previous risk when there was an alleged incendiary fire and he had been refused the right to examine exam-ine into the cause of the fire and did not see the place where it originated origi-nated r |
