Show John Pack DUP As the motto of the post office of-fice department reads, "In spite of rain, sleet or snow the mail must go through". In spite of past plans and foul weather, the closing social and meeting of the John Pack DUP Camp was held last Thursday at the home of Myrtle Higgs, long time member and instructor of the group. PREVIOUSLY it had been planned to be held at Summit Park, but it was felt that it was not possible. They the party was planned for the outdoor area at the Higgs lot. The weather was too cold, so the party went indoors. Members, Agness Mangus, Millie Wood, Vashti Argyle, Celia Merrell, Myrtle Higgs, Myra DeWaal, Signe Jensen, Elva Stringham, Clara Turner, Florence Ware, Grace Kerr, Myrt Bur-ningham, Bur-ningham, and Beatrice Wood, greatly enjoyed the afternoon's after-noon's activities.. MRS. HIGGS directed the lesson concerning trees and shrubbery in days gone by and especially in Utah. The story of Johnny Appleseed was re-lived, the stories of the. planting of the trees in Liberty Park were described . and the story of the planting of the park on Main Street in Centerville was told. Mrs. Mangus also present-, ed her poem "The Lone Apple Tree", describing the lone apple tree on the old Singleton property near to the Higgs home. Agness also made a hit with her dessert "Apple Crisp". THE MEMBERS of the John Pack Camp are making plans to join with the : members of the County in an ' excursion to Lagoon to visit the S:U.P. Pioneer Village, which has been transferred to that locality. The outing is planned for June, am |
