Show NEWS TO BRAG ABOUT PAGE All SUMMIT COUNTY NEWS MAY 9, 2014 Echo bustling as "Big Boy No. 4014° rolls in CHERYL OVARD SCN Editor A Big Event - The Union Pacific's Big Boy No. 4014 to soon be renovated in Cheyenne, Wyoming. All its "parts" to be repaired then given a good shine and polish! It has been on display for 52 years at Metrolink's Track just outside the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds in Colton, California. Stops along the way created a "train" of train lovers, some following it from the beginning of its venture and will not stop until they reach Cheyenne. Others joined in along the route, and when it reached Summit County, its stop at Echo found the "population" increased 200-fold for nearly an hour! Forty-five minutes of waiting, and 15 minutes of viewing the Big Boy No. 4010! Many turned away disappointed they couldn't stay longer, but they were a little behind schedule, and needed to make up for time! Photos were taken, and some were able to have a short conversation with those in the "drivers" seat. The engine is being pulled by the Union Pacific Engine, as can't go on its own as yet. It was a "big event of the week for those able to view this "antique" as it makes its way to Cheyenne. Certainly drew a crowd and also well attended by local and others who came from afar!
