"This information is critical because it helps identify areas of greatest need so UDOH and local health departments can plan how to address them," said UDOH Asthma Program Manager Rebecca Giles. "One very important finding is that the TriCounty area of Utah has ED and hospitalization rates nearly double that of the state as a whole," Giles added. TriCounty Health Department spokesperson Jeramie Tubbs was surprised by the numbers. It feels like a weight is pressing down on your chest. You begin to panic as your symptoms get worse and you struggle to find your inhaler. When you do, your hands are shaking so badly you can barely use it. You feel emotionally and physically exhausted. This is what an asthma at- PAGE SUMMIT COUNTY NEWS tack feels like for thousands of Utah adults with the disease. Every day, an average of 20 people have an attack so severe they need treatment at a hospital. Now, a new Utah Department of Health (UDOH) report shows where asthma is more prevalent, and an action plan is in place to help Utahns with asthma learn to reduce their risk factors and enjoy a better quality of life. The Asthma in Utah Burden Report 2012 shows that about 240,000 Utahns – 9% of adults and 7% of children – have asthma. The report provides an in-depth look at issues like symptoms, disease management, risk factors, treatment costs, and mortality. In addition, detailed maps show which areas of the state have the highest preva- with asthma are going to the emergency department and being hospitalized so often means we need to mobilize our community partners and work together on this issue," said Jeramie. "Our job is to find out why and help these individuals get the care they need." To coordinate local and statewide asthma efforts, UDOH has released the Utah Asthma Plan 2012-2016. This plan acts as a roadmap to direct asthma efforts throughout the state. It consists of five goals and 22 strategies focused on five areas: education, policy, environment, health care access, and data and monitoring. A5 The plan was created by the Utah Asthma Task Force, a team of individuals representing schools, health care providers, insurance companies, non-profit organizations, and state and local government agencies. These groups work together to build community partnerships and improve quality of life for people with asthma. Heber Valley Bank to acquire Park City branch of Frontier Bank Heber Valley Bank will acquire the Park City branch of Frontier Bank, FSB under an agreement just announced by the two banks. Subject to approval by bank regulators, the change will take place near the end of 2012. Heber Valley Bank is part of Grand Valley Bank, headquartered in Heber City, Utah. The new Park City branch location will be the 8th for the bank. Other Utah branches are located in Heber City, Midway, and Vernal. Colorado branches are located in Grand Junction (2), Fruita and Collbran. Total as- sets of the bank are about $273 million, making it the 6th largest state-chartered community bank in Utah. Although Frontier Bank's headquarters are in Park City, they moved their entire administration, including all executive management, to Palm Desert, California, where they operate three branches as El Paseo Bank. "While a very difficult decision given our history in Park City, this sale allows us to consolidate our banking operations in a much smaller footprint, thereby achieving efficiencies while increasing capital," said Fron- I I II1 1 R gilt iv ei Wellness 1 5 .:, Coach Cheryl E Laub Loceteed ;#7 /1/19;ne Ild/ey 3eressety 425 East 1200 South • Heber City, UT • 84032 435-654-4490 / Fax 435-654-4084 cheryl@therightweighlle.com Orthopedic SurgerySports Medicine RO.SENBERGCCOLEY ',ETC.0,_, Thomas D.
