Show Page 2 The Gunnison Valley Gazette Thursday, July 16, 2009 GVHS Class of 1984 celebrates 25 years The Gunnison Valley Gazette is sponsoring The Biggest Zucchini in the Valley Contest Kin gZ Take your giant, home-grown zucchini to Gunnison Market on August 12, 13 or 14 to be weighed by the contest’s official judge, “Mr. Produce” Marshall Sorenson. The winner will be announced on August 14th and will be crowned King or Queen Zucchini of Gunnison Valley for 2009. The reunion was held at GVHS where great memories and friendships were renewed. A great meal was served, and all in attendance had a good time. Those who were in attendance were front row: Chet Morris, Paul Peterson, John Wegener, Mike Sorensen, Scott Hermansen, and Mark Elmont. Back row: Paul Sprague, Julie Wood, Coralee Myers, Michelle Nielsen, Natalee Otten, Kim Caldwell, and Doreen Jeffs. Sesquicentennial Beard-growing Contest It’s not too late to enter the Sesquicentennial Beard-growing Contest! The contest will be held to help celebrate the valley’s sesquicentennial celebration. Lynn Pickett’s Backhoe Service will sponsor the event and will award cash prizes and certificates for the winners in four different categories: longest, best groomed, straggliest, and most unique. The contest will run through July 24. The judging will take place at Mayfield’s 24th of July celebration. To enter the contest, go to the Gunnison City Hall clean shaven and have your picture taken.
