The comedy is chuck full of laughs. It wlil be presented every night next week with matinees Sunday, Thursday and Saturday. SALT LAKE THEATRE OPENS SEASON WITH GAY PAREE V--- Chicago has the reputation of harboring a coterie of dramatic critics who might well be likened to a hens chief product that had been immersed in boling water for a period of ten minutes. When all seven of the windy citys theatrical penmen sounded the praises of Gay Paree it may be set down as a red letter event. This is exactly what befell the big Shubert opus, which comes to the Salt Lake Theatre for three days, commencing Thursday, September 15th. Gay Paree is one of the biggest, and boldest scenes that Messrs. Shubert have ever staged a falling staircase, if you please, freighted with all the Cuticle Sisters in the cast. Bacchanal and Vintners Dream it was called, and not miscalled. It was of that magnificent orgie of Mecca that almost made a pauper of Morris Gest. Enormously good was that prince of hie parodists, Chic Sale. See him in the courtroom sketch as a railroad switchman, there to deliver evidence for the company; saucer eyes, slicked red hair and a red mustache like twin shaking brushes. Another thing youll never see in the gay Paree where Lindbergh landed, is a perfectly drilled chorus. How they can prance and strut And their formations I mean the whole three syllables their involved and graceful formations are even more startling to me (to whom stage nudity is neither a novelty nor a call for the gend Shu-bertizati- on armes) than their freely . disclosed formation. MINE OWN DEAR HILLS These wondrous mountains hold ffY me Proof of my immortality. In might and majesty they tower, True symbols of Almighty power. Their snow clad peaks, white, glistning, Are white as wings of Seraphim. The lights and shadows softly rest Like misty rainbows on their crests. Sweet, gorgeous 'wild flowers, rich and rare, Weave royal robes a king might wear; While my glad heart enraptured sin , Hozzannas to the King of Kings, As through ravines and storm tossd pine I struggle up to heights sublime; Thus onward, upward, I must scale The stumbling stones on lifes rough . trail. My weary feet may faltering, slip, But in Gods own companionship I will succeed. The mountains say That I can be as strong as they. Come take my hand; each step we rise Makes earth a brighter Paradise. O Mighty Wasatch, wild and free Your every cliff is dear to me. MINNIE J. HARDY, 122 East So. Temple, Salt Lake City.
