The Tooele Club captured more trophies and prizes than any other club at the show, over 95 percent of the total. Teams from Grantsville, Salt Lake City, Riverton, Jordon Valley and Skull Valley were entered in the competition. CONTESTANTS were young riders six to 15 years old. Eligibility was governed by each club. YVinners in single events from the Jr. Bit and Spur Club included: Kathy Mikesell, first place, Shetland pony race; Lester Pendleton, first place in a 'A mile race for horses 46" inches high or less; Gordie Fields, first place, to mile race for horses 51 inches high; Dolores McKay, second place, to mile race (a Jordan rider scored first). IN WESTERN pleasure classes Tooele riders took the top spot in all three age groups. They include: Lori DeSimon, first in the youngest age group; Lorie Peterson, first in the middle age group and Lester Pendleton, first in the top age group. In Western Equitation classes judging is done on the work and appearance of both the rider and mount. In this group Lori DeSimon captured the top spot in the youngest age group with Marty Leonclli second and Clark Mikesell third. Other Western Equitation winners include; Sheri White, first; Maj Cen Leo B. Jones, recently named Chief of Staff for the U.S. .
