Chief among the elaborate affairs of the past week were the lawn bridge parties given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Byers, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, with Mr. and Mrs. Byers, Dr. and Mia A. R. Soderqulst, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Hayward and Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Baker The large lawn preacting as hosts. sented a beautiful picture for the occasion. Myriad electric lights, with the wires" concealed with yellow erepe paper, formed a canopy under which the bridge tables were placed. Japanese lanterns were used as shades, and wicker floor baskets, placed at Intervals throughout the grounds contained garden flowers of various shades, lending a floral atmosphere to the scene which was most attractive. Guests, numbering 165, rean evesponded to invitations, and after ning devoted to bridge, three-courwere luncheons served. Miss Vera Hartert became the bride of Harry H. Carlson, Thursday noon of last week, at the home of the parents of ths bride, Mr. and Mrs. John Hartert. The ceremony was performed in the presence of the Immediate familiea and a few intimate friends. Ths bride was unattended, and was dressed in chiffon and carried a shower bouquet of pink roses. The decorations consisted of variegated garden flowers, and cards marked places for twenty guests. The Friday Afternoon Bridge club was entertained bv Mrs. Frank McMaster at her home on Twelfth street Friday afternoon of last week. The prize for h gh score was won by Mrs. George Cope.
