During the year 1903 the Police department has made an especially good record, finishing the year with 3196 arrests. Only two arrests were made during the entire year by the Police department on charges of murder. Tht- men arrested were Mows Kifford, for the murdtr of Bad Alley" Harvey, and Frank Roe, for the murder of his wife cm Christmas day. Eight we,re arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, and two on charges of assault with Intent to kill. Charges of drunkenness were the most frequent, 1501 bein booked during the year. Vagrancy followed with 25, petit larceny, 125; burglary. 13; grand larceny and housebreaking, lfi each; forgery. 10; obtaining money under false pretense?, o; and passing counterfeit money. 2. From January 1st to December there were 317G arrests, 565 of whom were women, and 317 men.
