The dog summoned help for her master when the latter suffered a hemorrhage in the middle of the night, while recovering from a tonsillectomy. Doctors said Gary would have bled to death in another 15 minutes. Lassie receives $1000 U. S. bonds and one year's supply of dog food in dinner in her honor held in Chicago.
