Referred to the committee on improvements, to be considered in connection with the propositions of C. C. Huthraufl" and others. Louis Iteggel and six others submitted an additional subscription to that proffered at the last meeting of tbe counsel for the extension of the water mains down Fifth South Street. If the work was ordered as petitioners requested, they would further guarantee the sum of $110 towards the expense of the improvement, with the t usual condition in regard to refunding in future water ra tes. Referred to the committee on water works. The committee on streets and alleys, to whom was referred the petition of C. J. Gustaveson for the privilege of erecting a platform across the water ditch in front of his premises on Second South Street for the display of prize harness, etc., for six days from Oct. 6, 1880, reported that they saw no good rea son why the prayer of the petitioner should not be granted as the platform would only be temporary and could do no injustice to public or private rights. The committee therefore recommend that the petition be granted. Adopted. The city attorney, who was recently instructed to submit to the Council the draft of a deed conveying the block in the third municipal ward, known as Union Square, from the city to the University of Deseret under the conditions and restrictions desired by the Council, made a report, accompanied by the form of deed required, and also the draft of a resolution authorizing the proceeding which he considered necessary to be passed by the Council. The resolution and the deed were each read, and prior to their final approval, were ordered to be submit-of ted to the Chancellor and Board of DeseRegents of the University ret for their acceptance of the conditions, etc., therein contained.
