Instructor Studies Women's Olympic Activities Miss Mary Jo Reiter, instructor in the physical education department depart-ment recently returned from a clinic on women's, Olympic gymnastics gym-nastics and track and field events. She was appointed by the Wo-mens Wo-mens Board of the Olympic Development De-velopment Committee to represent repre-sent Utah at the clinic at the University of Oklahoma, earlier this month. MISS KEITER reported that under the new program, efforts and funds will be used to teach a greater number of girls the basic skills of Olympic events. "This, program," she explained, "should, produce a greater number and variation of women athletes." "It was also brought out during the clinic," stated Miss Reiter, that the United States is just as interested in sending a representation representa-tion of people who will display good-will and sportsmanship toward to-ward the Olympic Games as it is in sending a winning team. The Olympic Games is a common interest inter-est to many countries; it is one of fhe few universal interests that countries share and have a basic understanding in, and our nation would want to be represented with this in mind, "she explained." .' Miss Reiter, will begin giving dines in ths area on'these Olympic events; She plans to incorporate the fundamentals of these events into her classroom activities. |
