Show aalt LAKE NEWS J D RICES SUDDEN DEATH J D rice a painter who had been in tle employ of salt lake railroads for 1 long time died suddenly yesterday afternoon at the home of W M Ris leyon east fourth south for many years it biad been the custom of mr rice to visit the risley family when in salt lake and yesterday as usual he called mrs risley had left him for a moment j in charge of lier baby arom alio back porch she heard a gurgle and thinking it was the baby she returned i to find sir rice lying upon alie floor dead sirs ehley hurriedly called dr benedict but a cursory examination showed he was past all human aid sir rice had been taking treatment for congestion of the lungs and it is thought that death was canned by bicart disease as he had been troubled for years that malady perhaps unfortunately the blaze was discovered in time and was quickly extinguished by the firemen the fire started in the roof and was caused by a drum and the stovepipe upstairs and running along UTAH SOLDIER BOY HOME edgar E rich son of ex councilman rich of salt lake has returned from three years service of his country in the seventh united states infantry and has had enough of army life for a while mr rich enlisted three years ago in the seventh for service in the philippines but his regiment instead of being sent abroad was distributed about the country to care for and police the different army posts deserted by their garrisons which were sent over the ocean mr richs company was ordered to fort snelling and afterwards was sent post haste to fort mcpherson in georgia to help feet and noses frozen one man losing both hands which were amputated at the wrist and another soldier lost both feet while others would lose a foot or a hand finally mr richs company was ordered to vancouver barracks where he rejoiced in civilization once more and presently the seventh infantry was ordered to tho philippines jilt three years too late to satisfy mr richs yearnings for foreign
