Dr. Macfarlane, local health officer, states that the local Board of Health now has on hand Hot) treatments of the pure strain Spanish influenza virus, vi-rus, which was discovered and isolated by Dr. Kesenau of the firm of Mayo 7 Brothers, Rochester, Minn., and which is highly recommended by the leading physicians throughout the country as almost a specific for the prevention of Spanish influenza. It has proved ex i reedingly effectunl in Salt Lake City, ! as well as in ull the large cities of f" ,the United States. Owing to the tre-I tre-I mendous demand it has not become I available outside of the congested centers cen-ters until now. This virus should not be confused with the stock influence, or lagrippe, virus, which was on the V market before the breaking out of this epidemic, and which has lieen , used with more or less indifferent re sulfa here and elsewhere. It is believed by lending physicans that the use of this vaccine and isolation iso-lation are the only effectual method-. of controlling the disease. It is planned to first administer the treatment to the nurses who are in r- the hospitals and afflicted homes, and then take care of the heads of families famil-ies and larger children who cannot bo kept at home.
