Miss Amy Bowman, the Misses Car rie and Estella Parry, three of the unselfish nurses who threw themselves into the vortex of the contagion, with no regard to themselves except to employ em-ploy what care they could in the use of the gauze masks, etc., and who escaped the disease so long that they were pointed to to show what care could accomplish, finally came down, aone after the other, with the contagion. contag-ion. Miss Bowman was the first victim, vic-tim, but had only a light attatck and made a splendid recovery, getting back into the harness several days ago. We are pleased to report that the Misses Parry are also recovering in good shape and will won I"' Well again, There are a lot of others who have done a noble and wonderful work in this epidemic, and all have nodoubt Misted materially in holding the mortality here down to four or five depths, out of 10 cases developing pneumonia and an aggregate of possibly pos-sibly 200 cases of the influenza. A lirst-cluss doctor is another reason for the light mortality, in comparison with other towns. The people of Cedar City have responded re-sponded splendidly to tho needs of the hour, just as they have done in i very emergency through which they j have been called to pass, and have i done valliunt service. County Sunt. L. John Nuttull has acted as chief director of the forces of mercy and has responded to every call coming to him for assistance. As we are preparing to go to press on this Issue of the Record (still some three days behind schedule time) we learn i that it is feared that Mr. Nuttull is himself developing influenza. |
